Alderwasley is a small village in Derbyshire in Amber Valley. It is just a mile off the A6 at Whatstandwell, a mile from Wirksworth, and 3 from Belper. From Derby go north on the A6 to Duffield. Turn left off the A6 towards Wirksworth, the turning is at the first set of traffice lights as you enter the village. Take the second turning on the right for Hazelwood. (if you miss this turning carry on to the crossroads and turn right for Belper, then left for Alderwasley.) Left at the T junction for Belper, and continue on this road, leaving the Bluebell Inn on the left, to the end of the road. Go across the Belper Ashbourne Road to Dally Lane and continue on this road. Higg Lane is the third turning on the right after the Bulls Head. Ridgewood Equestrian is the first long drive on your left as you go down the hill.
From Ashbourne take the B5035 to Wirksworth, continue along the B5035 towards Crich and turn right off this road just after the Malt Shovel following the sign post to Alderwasley and Belper. Stay on this road and Higg Lane is the second turn on the left after the Bear Inn. Ridgewood Equestrian is the first long drive on your left as you go down the hill. Alternatively you might find it easier to take the Belper Road out of Ashbourne and turn left at Dally Lane, just before you go into Belper. Dally Lane is on the left after you have passed the Cross Keys pub, and gone down the hill into Blackbrook. You stay on Dally Lane, go past the Bull's Head, and take the 3rd turning on the right into Higg Lane. Ridgewood Equestrian is the first long drive on your left as you go down the hill.
From Matlock taken the A6 south to Whatstandwell. Turn right just before the bridge over the river Derwent and take the road to Alderwasley. Keep on this road (New Road) which becomes Higg Lane after you pass Alderwasley Hall and All Saints Church and Ridgewood Equestrian is on your right.
From Belper A6 turn onto the road to Ashbourne, at Bridge Foot turn right onto Belper Lane. At the T junction opposite the Bulls Head turn right and Higg Lane is the third turning on the right after the Bulls Head. Ridgewood Equestrian is the first long drive on your left.From Heage, and Ripley go to the A6 at Ambergate, and go south, and turn right off the A6 following the brown Youth Hostel sign, onto Holly Lane. It is between the Hurt Arms and the Filling Station. Go up Holly Lane, which becomes Jackass Lane. Turn right at the T junction and Higg Lane is the next lane on your right.
From Alfreton, at Watchhorn Island take the road to South Wingfield and then onto Crich. From Crich go to Whatstandwell. At the T junction with the A6 turn right and then left immediately after going over the bridge, take the road to Alderwasley. Keep on this road (New Road) which becomes Higg Lane after you pass Alderwasley Hall and All Saints Church and Ridgewood Equestrian is on your right, after ARRASLEA SHIRES, at the Blacksmith's Barn.
